A pickup truck was struck by a Metro-North train Wednesday, leaving one person injured, train delays and road closures.

Commerce Street has since reopened after being closed for several hours after officials say the pickup truck was struck at the railroad crossing on Commerce Street then pushed several hundred feet.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital in serious condition. News 12 was told there were no other injuries.

"It's not something that happens here every day. However, here in Norwalk, we have the capabilities to lift and stabilize an object as big and as heavy as a train," said Norwalk Fire Department Deputy Chief Adam Markowitz.

Trains should be back on a normal schedule for Thursday morning's commute after major delays throughout Wednesday evening's commute.

MTA Police are investigating the crash.
