Thunderbolt 12: Heavy rain causes flooding, damage in some Connecticut neighborhoods

Greenwich police say emergency crews performed multiple water rescues.

The heavy rain caused flooding in some neighborhoods across Connecticut.

Lauren Fabrizi was in Thunderbolt 12 all morning checking out the road conditions.

In the town of New Milford the downpours left Helen Marx Park looking more like a river.

New Milford residents can stay up to date on important information like road closures by signing up for town-wide alerts here.

Greenwich police said emergency crews performed multiple water rescues.

In Danbury, Kenosia Avenue near Backus Avenue by the mall was closed earlier due to flooding and downed power lines.

In Ridgefield, Cains Hill Road was closed due to a downed tree.

Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Jonathan Cubit says some towns in Litchfield County saw up to 5 inches of rain.

Norfolk emergency management posted a video showing flooding in the area. A local emergency was declared because of the flooding that caused parts of Route 272 to caved in.

Residents were isolated because of road closures.

State DOT and local public works crews are continuing to survey the roads this morning, and will do welfare checks today.
