Newtown police say officers rescued a 17-year-old Bridgeport resident from the water near the Silver Bridge Thursday afternoon.
They say a group was in the water when the teen went under.
Officers responded to the scene and were able to find the teen.
First responders initiated life-saving mesaures before the teen was taken to the hospital.
There was no word on their condition as of Thursday night.
