Norwalk residents are hoping to win big as the Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $1.25 billion.

There were no grand prize winners for Tuesday night’s drawing. Many people are still aiming to win what would be the fourth largest jackpot in Mega Millions history.

News 12 Lauren Fabrizi visited convenience shops in Norwalk as residents purchased their tickets.

"I've got as much of a chance as everybody else. It would be great,” said Sue Gabriele.

There have been 30 drawings with no grand prize winners since the last time the jackpot was won on April 18.

Six people this year have won Mega Millions jackpots ranging from $20 million to $1.3 billion. A $1 billion Powerball jackpot was also won last month.

The current Mega Millions jackpot would leave a winner who takes the lump-sum cash payout with $625 million.

Norwalk residents say they have many ideas about how they would spend that amount of money.

"I would have condos that are affordable living. I would have day cares that are discounted based on income,” said Makeda Palma.

"I would donate to a lot of animal charities,” said Gabriele.

"I would help out my friends and family and maybe buy a yacht,” said Andrei.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2. The chances of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302 million.

The next drawing is set to take place on Friday at 11 p.m.
