Sen. Richard Blumenthal met with Homes for the Brave on Tuesday for the one-year anniversary of the PACT Act.

The legislation, signed by President Joe Biden, offers relief to post-9/11 veterans who were exposed to burn pits and cancer-causing toxins. It also expands health care and compensation to veterans who can't access services.

Homes for the Brave offers housing programs and other resources for veterans. It is still urging vets to sign up for a health care screening.

“Not only does it save money because the cost of treating it is less, but also obviously it saves pain, suffering and grief. Veterans owe it to themselves and their families to get screened,” said Blumenthal. “It's free, it's quick, if in doubt do it.”
