A New Milford High School senior was killed Friday in a three-car crash on Route 7, school officials say.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. near Italia Mia Restaurant.

Police say an Infiniti G35 was traveling north on Route 7 in the right lane when it collided with a Hyundai Tucson that was attempting to turned into the restaurant from the left southbound lane. The Infiniti then collided with a Nisson Rouge traveling south on Route 7.

The driver of the Infiniti was a 17-year-old. He was transported to Danbury Hospital. A 17-year-old passenger was also taken to Danbury Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver and passenger in the Rouge were also taken to Danbury Hospital.

New Milford High School Principal Raymond Manka confirmed the victim was a senior student and says counseling services and grief support will be available for students and staff starting Saturday and through next week.

The school will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A portion of Route 7 was temporarily closed while crews cleared the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Nicholas Smith at 860-355-3133 or nsmith@newmilfordpolice.org
