Tweed New Haven Airport hosted an emergency preparedness training session Tuesday.
The training exercise is required by the Federal Aviation Administration and takes place every three years.
Emergency personnel from 22 federal, state and local agencies took part in the drill, that included a mock plane crash simulation.
"Many of us work together frequently, but to exactly define our roles and responsibilities in this particular scenario, just to speed along the execution of our response should a major incident actually happen," New Haven Police Lt. Brian McDermott said.
"There's a lot of lessons to be learned from this," Tweed CEO Michael Jones added. "It's good preparation and it helps us be better every day."
The drill did not impact Tuesday's flights.
