A little rain wasn’t going to get in the way of year two of Bridgeport’s signature music festival, Sound on Sound.

Friday night’s heavy rainfall delayed the start of day one of the festival by three hours, but it did little to lessen the mood of an expected 28,000 music lovers Saturday from near and far.

Overnight, the team at Founders Entertainment added raised walking pathways and used pump trucks to drain excess water, filling the flooding with mulch and gravel.

The festival aims to celebrate Fall along the Connecticut shore, complete with wine groves, beer gardens, plenty of flowers and pumpkins, and even a Ferris wheel offering a view across Long Island Sound.

“The inspiration of this event was really Connecticut being such an amazing place and not having a marquee music festival that they could call their own,” Founders Entertainment co-founder Tom Russell said. “We want you to be overwhelmed on how good the experience is.”

The experience has been reimagined after feedback from last year’s inaugural event. The festival grounds are significantly larger, there’s three times as many food and drink vendors, and major improvements to the audio and stage.

“One band performs, and one band sets up right behind them,” Russell said. “Once the band is done, the stage literally turns around and the other band is set to begin. So, if you're a patron, you don't have to walk far to see music, you can stay exactly where you are.”

And with a lineup featuring Fairfield native John Mayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alanis Morissette, Trey Anastasio and others, there’s plenty of good sound to go around.
