Connecticut residents to march in support of Israel in Washington, D.C

Thousands from all over the world are expected to march on Washington, D.C, in support of Israel and against antisemitism on Tuesday morning.
The United Jewish Federation said it’s sending five buses with more than 200 people from Stamford to Washington, D.C.
News 12 spoke with local religious leaders tonight as they’re urging people to participate in the march.
“We haven’t really seen this mobilization in a very long time in Washington D.C. in support of Israel, but I think people realize this isn’t ordinary times,” said Rabbi Daniel Cohen from the Congregation Agudath Sholom.
Organizers said the buses will depart from Newfield Ave at 4:30 a.m.
The march for Israel will take place Tuesday afternoon on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
Organizers want to show support for Israel while calling for the immediate release of hostages.
Diane Sloyer, chief executive officer of the United Jewish Federation, says the buses are at capacity.
“We’re getting calls as soon as five minutes ago, asking, ‘Is there room on the bus? We can’t get an Amtrak,’ so we hope people will figure out other ways to come and stand in support of Israel and against antisemitism,” said Sloyer.
Sloyer says the entire state of Connecticut has 15 buses heading down including the local Jewish high school, which is also busing students down.
“I’m hoping for these young families coming for the Jewish community who didn’t always feel United, that this brings a sense of unity, and we need each other and we’re all in this together,” said Sloyer.
The march is free to the public, and increased security will be present.
