The city of Bridgeport says it is saving money by approving a new contract for the operation of its wastewater treatment facilities.

The city says it signed a 10.5-year agreement with Inframark to handle the day-to-day operations at those facilities.

Under the new deal which starts Jan. 1, the city says its Water Pollution Control Authority will save $60 million over the life of the contract.
