National Coalition of 100 Black Women hosts health and wellness fair at Cardinal Shehan Center

Accessible health care was the name of the game over at Bridgeport's Cardinal Shehan Center on Saturday.
The nonprofit partnered with the National Coalition of 100 Black Women for their annual health and wellness fair.
More than 25 vendors offered blood pressure, HIV, hepatitis C and skincare screenings all for free.
There were also workshops for new parents and general wellness.
Volunteers said without a healthy lifestyle, they wouldn't be able achieve their other goals such as empowering young women in Bridgeport.
"Health is the foundation of economics. You've got to have a healthy heart, healthy body to go out and be prosperous. So, we want to promote health and wellness all year long, not just in January," said Lorraine Gibbons, the New Haven president of National Coalition of 100 Black Women.
This was the organization's seventh year hosting the event.
