Gov. Ned Lamont is proposing the elimination of application fees for licenses and certificates required for certain jobs.
This includes positions in education, child care and health care.
Lamont says the change will encourage more people to seek job in these fields, where there is significant need to fill openings.
The fees range from $40 to $200.
“It's just one more little speed bump that may make you hesitant before you get into nursing. And to make this seamless to make this easier to help you get going is what we are trying to do in nursing and we're trying to in home day care workers,” Lamont says.
The proposal will save workers nearly $3.5 million annually.
