New Milford's Jade Wallace has the Green Wave girls basketball team on the cusp of another league title.

Wallace is this week's News 12 Connecticut Scholar Athlete presented by Colonial Toyota.

She's the daughter of former pro and New York Knick John Wallace.

The senior student is just a few buckets away from 1,000 points for her high school career.

Following her junior season, she was diagnosed with a rare and uncommon disease known as Median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS).

Wallace says she pushes through chronic abdominal pains, weight loss, and messed up blood flow.

Her teammates carry nausea pills for her and Wallace's coach keeps snacks on hand in case she gets light-headed.

She doesn't have to play, but she wanted to finish what she started.

"I feel like if I didn't have that support system, my decision to come back and play may have been different, but because my team is so supportive, I owe it to them to play for them," Wallace said.  "I've been playing for the New Milford program since I was in second grade, and I've always been doing something. Travel year, we were the best team in our league always winning it. Then high school, we won our division for the first time, so I feel like I wanted to finish what I started and not give up on my team."
