The family of a 23-year-old woman who was killed in a car crash in Bridgeport last week is asking drivers to slow down.

Police say Naomi Wright was driving with three passengers when the collision occurred - just before 10 p.m. last Sunday at Seaview and Connecticut avenues.

Police say the 33-year-old driver of the other car involved in the crash, along with Wright's three passengers were also hurt, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

"She was a shining light. She's been like that since day one. I remember when she came home the first day and watching her grow throughout all these years she's been a very good girl," says Wright’s uncle, Irell Pettway.

The family says they hope Wright’s death will serve as a safety lesson for all drivers.

"A car is a weapon. It's no different than a gun. You abuse it, bad things come from it," says family friend Tony Barr.

"And she was so pretty. Had a good life ahead of her. A good life," says Wright’s aunt Ann Pettway.

They family has set up a GoFundMe page in Wright's memory.
