More than 40 people attended a rally on the Norwalk Green Sunday that called for a ceasefire in Gaza.

"We want peace, but a permanent peace," says John Miksad, the chapter coordinator of World Beyond War.

The group is a global anti-war organization that describes itself as a nonviolent movement to end war and establish sustainable peace.

Sunday's rally comes as a United States-led resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire failed Friday to pass the United Nations Security Council. Eleven members voted in favor while China, Russia and Algeria voted against.

Attendees told News 12 they were pleased to see the Norwalk community coming out in support of a ceasefire.

World Beyond War and attendees are asking for a permanent ceasefire, all hostages and prisoners be released and a permanent solution for both Israelis and Palestinians.
