Haven Hot Chicken in Norwalk is taking part in Restaurant Week and helping combat food insecurity in Connecticut.

Norwalk's Restaurant Week is running until June 9. The restaurant is offering a $20 combo which includes The Sandwich or the Not-Chicken Sandwich, with fries, a drink and Banana Puddin'.

The restaurant is donating $3 to Connecticut Foodshare for each restaurant week combo meal sold.

Customers like Jamaal Daniel, who ordered at Haven Hot Chicken's Norwalk location this week, said he was happy to help.

"I feel good about that. I did something good," he said. "I admire restaurants for putting effort into tackling [food insecurity] because I think with some care and shared resources, I think it's a very approachable thing."

"There are 400,000 people in Connecticut that are food insecure, and over 100,000 of those are under the age of 12," said Haven Hot Chicken Co-founder Etkin Tekin.

For those who miss out on Restaurant Week, Tekin said The Great Banana Puddin' Drive will be available, which means anyone who gets a banana pudding will also be providing a meal for someone in need.

Haven Hot Chicken says they've been able to contribute to over 70,000 meals to help Connecticut Foodshare since the start of their program.
