While inflation has shown signs of easing, food prices continue to rise, prompting concern and action from Connecticut lawmakers.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro and Attorney General William Tong announced initiatives aimed at combating the trend. Tong stressed the need for expanded authority to investigate price gouging.

"One of the things we've been pushing for is expanded authority to investigate price gouging," Tong said.

DeLauro pointed to mergers within the food industry as a contributing factor to rising prices, urging Washington to scrutinize the issue.
