Experts say Tuesday night's presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will be contentious.

The two candidates are set to meet for their first and only scheduled debate of the campaign.

There will be no audience, and the candidates' microphones will be muted when the other person is speaking. The debate will also feature rules similar to June's debate between Trump and President Joe Biden.

Political experts expect Trump to go after Harris on claims of flipflopping and Harris to go after Trump on the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Multiple polls show this a tight race, both nationally and in key swing states.

"I would say this debate probably looms as one of the most important, and it's right up there probably with the Kennedy-Nixon debates of 1960, Ford-Carter 1976. So, I'm looking at this debate as one that could very well determine the outcome of the presidential election," said Sacred Heart University political science professor Gary Rose.
