Fairfield police said two men were arrested and are facing multiple charges after an armed carjacking ended in a police pursuit through numerous police departments.

Wilton police identified the vehicle and tried to stop the suspects from fleeing at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. The suspects then struck the police car and got on the Merritt Parkway, according to Fairfield police.

Police said the vehicle had been taken at gunpoint from Bridgeport on Sept. 26.

Officials said the suspects, identified as Elijah Holloman, 21, and Dominique Adrian Reid, 26, both from Bridgeport, collided with another car carrying five passengers as they fled from police while driving in the wrong direction near Exit 51 on Merritt Parkway.

Police said no one was seriously injured in the crash.

The suspects ran away from the scene into residential areas, according to officials.

Police said Holloman was immediately arrested, while Reid was located later inside a car at Fairfield Police Department headquarters trying to bond out Holloman.

Fairfield, Trumbull, Bridgeport, Wilton, Westport and Connecticut State Police all assisted in the search for the suspects.

A shelter-in-place was sent out by the Trumbull Citizen Alert system for residents living in and around the area of Unity Road neighborhood at 10:30 a.m. and was lifted at 1 p.m.
