Stew Lahey, a 98-year-old World War II veteran and one of the last survivors of the Battle of Iwo Jima, has passed away.

Lahey was visited by friends and family in his final moments, who came to express their gratitude for his service.

In a recent interview with News 12, Lahey shared his wish for the holiday season, saying he didn't want to see any tears, only smiling faces.
