During his presidential campaign, President-elect Donald Trump put a huge focus on revamping the county's educational system. Now that Trump has been elected, the question remains if the Department of Education will be restructured.

News 12's Mark Sudol spoke exclusively with outgoing Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona this week on his time in office and Trump's nominee to take over the department, Connecticut's own Linda McMahon.

Watch Mark Sudol's full interview:

"Having served as Secretary of Education, I recognize the challenge that there is to make sure that you meet the needs of all 65 million students. I wish her well. I'm very concerned about the policies that he's bringing forward, but I wish her well. And I know that she has served on Connecticut's State Board of Education for a short period of time and has served on a college board. I hope she brings that experience and the perspective of those who she served to the table as secretary if she goes through and gets confirmed by the senate," he said.
