Hundreds turned out this week for a unique art exhibit in Bridgeport.

Artist Yves Wilson, who was born in France and raised in the city, took over a penthouse in a building on Main Street and transformed it into his studio.

The exhibit entitled "The View" featured photographs, paintings and sculpture created over the past decade.

According to press release, the pop-up gallery presented "Wilson's work in a raw, immersive setting that evokes the spirit of 1980s New York's alternative art scene."

Wilson says the state will soon show his work in schools and government buildings

"So, I almost feel like this is a launch pad for the next stage of my career, and it's good to have it at home. I haven't lived in Bridgeport for six years now, but I still call this place home. I have an affinity for the people here, they hold the stories that propel my story and my work, so it just feels very good to be here. I feel grounded here," he says.

The exhibit can be viewed online.
