Head of Bridgeport food pantry says families will be 'hit hard' by $10M federal funding cut
The Trump administration has imposed more than $1 billion in funding cuts to food programs nationwide.

Pastor Mary Green has run the Bishop Jean Williams Food Pantry – named after her mom – for 20 years at various venues throughout Bridgeport.
"We served over 1 million meals last year, and the demand for food is growing at a faster rate than we've ever seen," Green told News 12. "But now with these budget cuts, we're in uncharted territory and I'm not sure what we're going to do."
Green is referring to $10 million in funding the Trump administration has cut for Connecticut schools and food pantries.
"Why is it necessary to cut dollars that would affect children who are in such great need?" It's cold and it's cruel – and I have never seen anything like it," Green said.

"We're going to have to turn to private fundraising but making up a shortfall of this size is next to impossible for us. It's the families who will suffer," Green said.
