Each year, first-graders at Concord Magnet School in Norwalk run a vegetable market for the entire school community.

The project gives the kids the opportunity to incorporate math, science, reading and art into a real-life project.

The students design the logo, decorate the school and create a song and commercial to advertise the market.

"They prepped the produce. They set everything up. They wrote the prices. They came up with what produce we should have. They are running," says teacher Stephanie Habasinski "All I did was tell them what job they are doing for the day and it's giving them that experience that they can take into the real world and kind of set them up for success."
