A man is facing charges after a knifepoint kidnapping at the downtown Milford boat ramp earlier this month, according to police.

Alexander Mathews is accused of pulling a knife on a man, demanding his phone, and ordering him to drive to Stamford.

Police said the victim was able to call for help at a McDonald's stop while Mathews ordered food with the knife in his pocket.

Mathews was charged with second-degree kidnapping, threatening, and breach of peace.

He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
