Loved ones gathered in Pelham Bay Park Sunday to play a football game in honor of a 16-year-old high schooler who fatally shot in Brooklyn.

The friends and family of Tyson "TJ" Harps honored his love of football by holding a Turkey Bowl Championship game.

"I'm here because this was his legacy, and if he was here, he would be here," said Harps mother, Ms. Harps.

Instead of watching her son play in the game, Ms. Harps joined players of the Bronx Justice League football team in a 100-yard walk across the field.

Officials say Harps was shot in the head in front of 1196 Eastern Pkwy. by an unidentified man.

The suspect was last seen wearing a hat, gray hooded sweatshirt, black jacket, gray sweatpants and black sneakers.

Michael Hendricks Sr., a coach at the Bronx Justice League, said the tribute will honor the linebacker's jersey number 15.

"We want to send No. 15 out in style. And we know 15 is on the sideline with us now," he said.

Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
