Four Bridgeport public schools disappeared from the Connecticut Department of Education's list of the 72 worst-performing schools in Connecticut.

The schools include Roosevelt, Barnum, Madison and Harding high schools.

"By falling off that list, these schools have shown everybody in Connecticut that they will settle for nothing but excellence," said Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery. "This achievement reflects the hard work of teachers, students and administrators - and I could not be any prouder.

Dr. Avery went on to say that "to fall off that list, these schools have had to show excellence in everything from state testing scores to college-readiness indicators, such as graduation rates and AP exam performances."
