Winsted woman violates conditions of release for animal cruelty charges

A Winsted woman facing 42 counts of animal cruelty was arrested again this week when she violated the conditions of her release.
According to her arrest warrant, Sarah Smolak was discovered by police with two cats in her home in November.
Smolak is set to be arraigned on her new charge on Monday.
Monday will also see a judge decide if she should be granted a pretrial program, which would result in the Winsted case being dropped.
