The swan that was trapped in the frozen Norwalk River earlier this month is now back in the wild.

Tailors Wildlife Rescue Group says the animal was released on Wednesday with help from Animal Nation and Norwalk Animal Control near the docks of the Norwalk Boat Club, which they say is not far from where he got stuck.

Firefighters rescued the swan on Feb. 3. He was first taken to the VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center and then later to Norwalk Veterinary Hospital.

Fire officials said at the time they believed the bird may have been trapped in the ice for days.
