Fairfield prep sent out a message to students and their families addressing antisemitic behavior of certain students.

School officials explained that the previous week, they were notified of disparaging and antisemitic language posted on social media prior to the state championship hockey game.

The school explained that the posts were unacceptable and stood in direct opposition to the Catholic values the school wishes to instill within its students.

The students responsible for those posts have been addressed directly, and the school says they will continue to examine the impact of their actions through personal accountability.

"Our commitment to the dignity of every person is woven into Prep’s core values and curriculum. Students engage with a wide range of religious traditions — including intentional, substantive study of the Jewish faith, Hebrew Scripture, and Jewish history. Guided by the Church’s own teaching, we affirm God’s enduring covenant with the Jewish people and our deep common heritage, and we stand firmly against antisemitism in all its forms. As Nostra Aetate reminds us, the Church 'deplores all hatreds, persecutions, displays of antisemitism levelled at any time or from any source against Jews, " school officials said in a statement.

EDITOR'S NOTE:
A graphic banner in an earlier television version of this story incorrectly stated that members of the Fairfield College Preparatory School hockey team were disciplined in connection with antisemitic social media posts made prior to the state championship game. School officials have clarified for News 12 the students involved were not members of the hockey team.
