A local attorney has been helping seniors, families, and individuals with special needs learn how to manage their assets.

Marjorie Varrichio has been guiding Bronx residents for over 30 years.

Between creating supplemental needs trusts to creating estate plans, Varrichio says she encourages the idea of learning the benefits of a trust.

"I think that knowledge is power. And thought about plans for the future is always great because that means we're prepared," she says.

Varrichio says there are many benefits to a trust depending on your living situation.

"Sometimes people have children living with them, disabled children, and they don't want there to be any sort of a snafu with the house or where the rest of the family is going to be living. And the trust can, in a very detailed way, spell things out," she says.

For those wondering if they or their family could benefit from a trust, Varrichio says being educated is the most important thing.

"A lot of people, especially in the Bronx, you have people who have worked, as I have every single day, juggle with kids, and they just don't want to lose everything," she says.
