The City of Bridgeport is highlighting a handful of new police sergeants.

Mayor Joe Ganim and Chief Roderick Porter hosted a swearing-in ceremony Tuesday morning at the Margaret E. Morton Government Center for seven officers receiving the honorable promotion.

Officers moving up to sergeant status include:

  • Detective Jeremy Kelly

  • Officer Edwin Garcia Jr.

  • Officer Linet Santoro

  • Officer Daniel Ortiz

  • Officer Antonio Molina

  • Officer Carlos Pabon Jr.

  • Officer Robert Bruno

Chief Porter gave some advice to the officers – focusing on never losing sight of integrity over authority.

"You have earned this opportunity, now you must prove it everyday that you deserve it. Lead with integrity, lead with courage, lead by example and never ask your officers to do something you wouldn't do yourself,” said Porter. “And always remember: your leadership will be measured not by your rank, but by the impact you have on your people and the trust you build within this community."

Mayor Ganim says the department is looking to hire even more officers for the police department.
