A Derby volunteer firefighter who had been searching for a kidney donor has now found a match, bringing relief to his family and fellow first responders.
Firefighter Chris “CJ” Matto needed a donor after his kidney disease progressed into kidney failure.
Officials say Matto has since been matched with a donor.
In response, Matto’s fellow firefighters are raising money to support him and his family during his recovery.
A car wash fundraiser is scheduled for June 6 at Hilltop Hose Company No. 5. The event will cost $10 per car and will be cash only.
