Six hotel rooms were damaged following a fire Monday morning at the Red Carpet Inn in Stamford, fire officials say.
The Stamford 911 Center received a call just before 9:15 a.m. about a fire in room 235.
When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the second floor. They found the fire in the ceiling of the room. The fire then extended to the roof area and quickly spread.
While room 235 was unoccupied at the time, guests from adjacent second-floor rooms were evacuated.
Crews brought the fire under control just before 9:50 a.m.
Official say six rooms sustained fire, smoke or water damage.
No one was injured.
It was not clear as of Monday evening how the fire started.
