A landscaper is speaking out after what he says was a violent attack by two neighbors while he was working at a client's home in Massapequa Park.

Newly-obtained surveillance video captures the moment Tony Ayala says he was assaulted by Brian McKeon and his son, Brian McKeon Jr. Ayala alleges the pair attacked him with a metal baseball bat and a wooden rod, leaving him injured and shaken.

According to Ayala, the confrontation began while he was mowing a client's lawn. He says he briefly crossed part of the public sidewalk apron in front of McKeon's home to reach a neighboring property.

"We went up his apron, probably three slabs of the public sidewalk, in front of his home," Ayala said. "Probably wasn't in front of his home for more than a second, so we could cut into his neighbor's home."

Ayala claims McKeon began yelling at him to stay off his property. He says he explained that he was not on McKeon's property and continued working.

"We didn't step on his lawn. We didn't do anything," Ayala said. "I was in shock, I was speechless."

Ayala alleges that moments later, McKeon and his son attacked him with the weapons. He says he was forced to defend himself during the incident.

"Who was going to stop them if I didn't defend myself?" Ayala said. "Who was going to stop them?"

Both Brian McKeon and Brian McKeon Jr. were arrested by Nassau County police and arraigned on Wednesday morning.

The McKeons' attorney told News 12 that the altercation stemmed from an ongoing neighborhood dispute dating back to last year.

Ayala said the disagreement involved a tree-trimming company that cut brush along McKeon's fence after vegetation extended onto his client's property.

"My client did trim their green giants," Ayala said. "That guy only did his side, but never did his neighbor's side."

Following the arraignment, Brian McKeon was released. Brian McKeon Jr. was held on $2,500 cash bail.

Both men have been ordered to stay away from Ayala and are scheduled to return to court on July 6.
