A Fairfield resident was robbed at gunpoint while trying to sell a MacBook through Facebook Marketplace on Friday night, authorities said.

Police said officers responded to the area of Jeniford Road at about 10 p.m. after receiving a report of a robbery.

According to investigators, the resident had arranged to sell the laptop through Facebook Marketplace. During the transaction, the buyer allegedly displayed a handgun and fled with the MacBook without making payment.

Police reminded residents to use caution when buying or selling items through online marketplaces and to conduct transactions in safe, public locations whenever possible.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fairfield Police Department Detective Bureau.
