The drought continues.

It's been 60 years since England reached a World Cup final, and following the country's 2-1 loss to Argentina Wednesday, it will have to wait at least another four years to snap the streak.

Fans gathered at Gruel Britannia in Westport to watch the big game.

The drinks were flowing, and the crowd exploded into celebration when England took a 1-0 lead in the second half, but the cheers quickly turned to dashed hopes as Argentina answered with two late goals of its own to punch its ticket to the World Cup final.

Rupert Licht, originally born in London and visiting from Florida, was one of the dozens of England fans at Gruel Britannia who were devastated by the tough loss.

"There's a famous English band called the Smiths," Licht said after the game. "And the lyrics were, 'I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour, but heaven knows I'm miserable now.' And I am indeed miserable now."

Argentina moves on to face Spain in Sunday's championship game at New York New Jersey stadium in East Rutherford.

England will play France on Saturday in the third-place game.

"We are going to soldier on," says Karen Hubrich, owner of Gruel Britannia. "We're going to bring it back to England one day, hopefully in my lifetime. I hope!"
