President Donald Trump claimed in his prime-time address that his Department of Homeland Security uncovered hundreds of thousands of noncitizens and deceased individuals in state voter rolls. He cited data from a program called Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements, or SAVE.

It's been documented to inflate noncitizen numbers. That's in part because naturalized citizens are often flagged wrongly as noncitizens. Trump claimed the evidence shows that the nation's current election system is dangerous. He alleged it exposes high levels of foreign interference through hacking.

News 12's Mark Sudol is joined by Republican State Sen. Paul Cicarella, who discusses how lawmakers are working to make Connecticut more affordable, electric rates and taxes among other topics.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal is pushing Congress to pass a major bill to help Ukraine. He worked on it with Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, who died suddenly.
