Heavy hearts in Bethel Friday morning as fallen Bridgeport police officer Cooper Whiteside was laid to rest.
Whiteside, a Danbury resident, died in an off-duty motorcycle crash in the early morning hours of July 13.
The funeral was an emotional and somber scene at Walnut Hill Community Church.
Friends, family and first responders from different departments across the state came out to pay their respects and say their final goodbyes.
The service saw a motorcade led by the Bridgeport Police Department.
Whiteside had served for two years with the Bridgeport Police Department, he was also a firefighter with the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire department, Brookfield Fire Department, and was a captain in training with the West Redding Volunteer Fire Department.
Whiteside’s girlfriend, a passenger on his bike at the time of the accident and mother of three children, also died in the crash.
