Fairfield Police K-9 Penny made her first successful assist to another agency, the department announced.
Police requested the help of Penny and Officer Renaldi last week after a person experiencing a mental health crisis jumped from a second-floor window in Westport and left the area.

Police say Penny began tracking through a nearby neighborhood and entered a swampy area. They say although Penny repeatedly got stuck in the mud, she continued to work.
Her tracking led officers to the area where the person was hiding, which allowed them to safely locate the man.
