The 39th annual Swim Across the Sound is Saturday with the first-ever start and finish in Bridgeport.
The proceeds benefit cancer patients and their families.
They cover things insurance does not, like rent, utilities and rides to treatment.
The 14-mile swim begins at 6 a.m. at Steelpointe Harbor in Bridgeport and ends at Captain's Cove.
Due to damage at Danford's in Port Jefferson, New York, this year's event will take place entirely in Connecticut.
Over 200 swimmers are taking part.
