Five businesses remain closed after a two-alarm fire at the Midway Shopping Center in Greenburgh.
The fire started around 7:45 a.m. at Tranquility Spa, located at 917 Central Park Ave.
Fire officials believe the blaze started in a utility area where washers and dryers are located inside the spa.
Heavy smoke was showing when firefighters arrived.
The fire spread into the walls of the building, making it more difficult for crews to locate and extinguish all of the flames, officials said.
Nearly 10 fire departments responded to the scene.
"Coupled with the weather a little bit, we needed extra personnel to relieve people. So, right now the fire is under control, and it will be under investigation," Greenville Fire Chief Gus Spedalieri said.
Fire officials said, Chick-fil-A, Kura Sushi, Panera Bread, Chipotle and Tranquility Spa will remain closed until later tonight at the earliest.
A spokesperson with Tranquility Spa told News 12 they expect to be up and running by the middle of next week and that the fire was contained to the laundry room.
The rest of the shopping center remains open.
No injuries were reported.
