Sen. Richard Blumenthal is supporting a bipartisan measure to protect residents from the possibility of their electric bills skyrocketing.

The effort aims to prevent tech giants from passing the costs of new A.I. data center on to ordinary consumers.

"These data centers that Big Tech wants to construct will raise the prices of electricity and water and other utilities. They should be forced to pay for them and that's what my legislative proposal would do,” he explained.

Blumenthal says he believes everyday Americans should not have to pay more just to power the tech industry’s A.I. boom.
