A Waterbury woman accused of holding her stepson captive for 20 years rejected a plea offer on Friday.
Prosecutors say Kimberly Sullivan imprisoned and starved her stepson since he was just 11 years old.
He was rescued at the age of 31 after starting a fire last year in a desperate bid to escape. Police say he weighed only 68 pounds at the time of his rescue.
The judge offered Sullivan 10 years in prison followed by five years of probation during her last court appearance. She declined, and her case was moved to the trial list.
Jury selection is scheduled for January, and the trial is expected to begin in February.
