A Bridgeport man is facing an attempted murder charge after police say he seriously injured a woman during a domestic violence assault in Trumbull.
Police say officers responded Tuesday afternoon to a home on Palomino Pass after receiving a 911 call from a woman screaming for help. Dispatchers reported hearing a physical altercation in the background.
When officers arrived, they found a seriously injured woman inside the home and took 53-year-old Ronald Champlin into custody at the scene.
Investigators say Champlin, of Holland Road in Bridgeport, repeatedly threatened and physically abused the victim over the course of about two days.
Police say the woman suffered serious injuries to her face, body and extremities.
The victim was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment. Champlin was taken to Saint Vincent's Hospital for a laceration on his hand.
Champlin is charged with criminal attempt to commit murder and other domestic violence-related offenses.
He is being held on a $2 million bond pending arraignment in Bridgeport Superior Court.
