Person dies in Bridgeport building blaze
Firefighters responded to the 140 block of Denver Avenue just before 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. The third-floor fire escalated to a third-alarm around 30 minutes later.
A person has died from their injuries following a three-alarm blaze in Bridgeport, according to the city.
Firefighters responded to the 140 block of Denver Avenue just before 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. The third-floor fire escalated to a third-alarm around 30 minutes later.
News 12 cameras captured orange flames shooting from the top of the building as firefighters battled the blaze from multiple angles.
Officials say crews pulled the victim from the building. Paramedics rushed them to Bridgeport Hospital, where they died.
Their identity was not immediately known.
The city says EMS transported two other people to the hospital for evaluation. They were not injured.
The Bridgeport Fire Marshal’s Office and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the deadly blaze.
