An 18-year-old motorcyclist has died after a crash near Rippowam Middle School in Stamford.

Police say the crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on High Ridge Road in front of the school.

Investigators say the teen was riding northbound on High Ridge Road when a Toyota RAV4 traveling southbound turned onto Loveland Road and collided with the motorcycle.

The rider suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Stamford Hospital, where he later died.

An 18-year-old passenger was thrown from the motorcycle and seriously injured but is expected to survive.

The 61-year-old driver of the SUV and another passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information to contact Stamford police.
