During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bridgeport mother Courtney Barr is turning her private health battle into a public message of hope.

After discovering a lump in March, Barr was diagnosed with stage-two aggressive breast cancer, a bombshell that left her and her two sons, Gabriel and Isaiah, feeling terrified.

She trusted her medical team, following her treatment plan religiously through four months of chemotherapy.

Barr celebrated beating the illness on August 17 when she rang the treatment bell, and she underwent her final surgeries this past Monday.

While she must still undergo radiation therapy, doctors expect a full recovery as she focuses on eating right, staying positive, and attending her follow-up appointment this Monday.
