Gov. Ned Lamont's former budget deputy is appealing his seven-year prison sentence for bribery, even though he remains on the run in Greece.
Despite fleeing the county and refusing to appear in court, a federal judge sentenced Kosta Diamantis on Sept. 30.
A jury had convicted him of demanding bribes in exchange for multi-million-dollar school construction contracts.
As News 12 has reported, U.S. Marshals are continuing to work with Greek authorities to extradite Diamantis.
Diamantis also faces a second bribery trial in December.
