A New Haven man is facing charges after police say he stabbed another man during a street fight in Bridgeport Friday evening, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.
Police say Yannick Williams, 36, of New Haven, was arrested near the Bridgeport train station on Water Street shortly after the stabbing.
A patrol sergeant recognized Williams as matching the suspect description, according to investigators.
Officers responding to the area of Iranistan Avenue and State Street around 7 p.m. found a 36-year-old Bridgeport man suffering from a serious stab wound to the arm.
An officer applied a tourniquet before the victim was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
Police say a knife believed to have blood on it was recovered from Williams.
Williams is charged with first-degree assault and failing to comply with fingerprinting and photographing requirements.
His bond was set at $100,000.
The victim is expected to survive.
